Glacier by Sanlam and Dryland Event Management have taken the tough but necessary decision to postpone the 2020 Glacier Cradle Traverse. The three-day mountain bike stage race was set to take place from the 3 to 5 April 2020, at Avianto, in Muldersdrift Gauteng. It has now been rescheduled, for the 16 to 18 October 2020, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
“Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s state of the nation address and having watched the global trend, which has seen Covid-19 expand from a few cases to necessitating the complete shut-down of large gatherings, Glacier by Sanlam and Dryland Event Management have taken the decision to postpone the Glacier Cradle Traverse” said Johann de Wet from Glacier by Sanlam and Henco Rademeyer, of Dryland Event Management. “Our primary concern is for the health of the participants, crew and service providers.”
“We are also fortunate to be in the position to be able to reschedule. This is due to the support and flexibility of Trevor D’ Olivera of Avianto who made every effort to accommodate our change of date. We also apologise to all for any inconvenience.”
All riders who have already entered the 2020 Glacier Cradle Traverse are automatically transferred to October. They will also be contacted individually by the Dryland Event Management team to address any questions they may have. Any further queries can be directed, via email, to info@dryland.co.za. While more information on the event can be found at www.cradletraverse.co.za.
